I'm not sure that there's much about this image that sits easily on the eye, but hey, that was my day in Dundee.
Went into town with the son... usual story of people occupying disabled seats on the bus when they really didn't need to and as usual, nobody offered to give up said seat even though they saw the walking stick. Sometimes I wish I could drive... other times I just hate them.
Eventually got into town despite a very rough ride and was glad to get off the bus. However, heaving with people who paid little attention to anyone else. After a few knocks with me retaliating verbally, much to the son's embarrassment, I eventually disappeared off to do my own thing. He went for coffee with a mate.
Saw a guy almost completely out of it in a close and stopped to ask him if he was OK. At least half a dozen others walked past him. He was "fine" but was out of his head on something; heroin I guess. The son later told me off for putting myself in a dangerous situation. Great get out clause I told him.
Saw another old lad stumbling out of the bookies. The number of gambling establishments has gone up over the last few years. Dundee's even got it's own casino now. Very grand. Doubtless they'll do lots of business as times get hard. What a great idea. Everybody's got something to look forward to. Hope springs eternal when you have little left to loose.
Still, after my foray round the closes and underpasses I returned to city square to wait for the son and I caught this image. Dundee city fountains. Last year they were closed because they were found to contain some nasty bug or other. The cascading water is in full flow at the moment though. The city fathers can be proud.
