Sheltered Palm
The car wasn't ready to be picked up until today, so that meant a second day with access to a vehicle. Oh joy upon joys!
I decided I would explore a part of Jacksonville's industrial and economic base in an area known as East Jacksonville. My goal was to try and capture a shot or two of the Mathews Bridge spanning the St Johns River. Sadly none of the roads gave access to the waterfront and a clear view of the bridge.
I did drive and walk past a lot of vacant lots and dilapidated premises, not the result of the recession. These places had been abandoned for years, a testament to Jacksonville's industrial decline and new industries wanting greenfield sites.
The most interesting shot I could get was underneath the ramp that leads to the bridge. I liked the juxtaposition of the concrete and steel with the palm tree.
