Medieval Fresco in New York?

Yes, this is the real article depicting Virgin and Child at the Cloisters Museum in Upper Manhattan. Rockefeller Junior funded the collection of the various medieval artifacts in the early 20th century from a range of places in Europe including Italy, France, Belgium and Austria. The museum also boasts a series of tapestries woven in Brussels around 1500 showing the 'Hunt of the Unicorn'. One of the images from these tapestries has been used by Hollywood in a Harry Potter film.

The museum is worth a visit for its very interesting collection of Romanesque and Gothic architecture, frescoes and tapestries. The gardens and the views of the River Hudson are also fabulous.
