For Holland Fans
A few of these may help you drown your sorrows after today's defeat against Spain in the World Cup Final. It would have been a travesty of justice if Holland had won.
It wasn't the best final, lacking in drama and excitement. It will perhaps best be remembered for the number of players who received a yellow card from English referee Howard Webb.
I think Uruguay versus Spain would have provided a far more entertaining game. Having mentioned yesterday that Uruguay's Diego Forlan was my player of the tournament, he has won the Fifa Golden Ball as the outstanding player of the World Cup. Seems like I can still spot a good player when I see one.
But congratulations to Spain. They ran out the deserved winners and were the only team on the pitch who tried to play football, rather than the kick and rush tactics adopted by Holland, with the emphasis very much on kick.
I took this shot in the Publix grocery store in Riverside. Armed with a camera I attracted the attention of the manager who came over to me and told me that I was not allowed to take pictures in the store without the company's permission. I explained to him about Blipfoto and that I had taken a picture of some Spanish wine and wanted a picture depicting Holland in case they won, which the manager thought they would. He agreed to let me take this shot but I was told not to feature any Publix employees. That seemed a fair arrangement.
It turns out that the "Spanish" bottles of wine were in fact from Chile, hence me having to use this shot of the Heineken cans.
