Taming another volcanco

the name of the place I've forgotten, but the sole purpose of our visit here was to climb another volcano, woop!

the night before we had a very tasty meal at a family restaurant closeby to our accommodation. The town itself didn't have much to offer but the food was delicious!

Early the next morning we headed out to conquer this volcano and it was a tough old climb! It was extremely wet and we had trouble staying on our feet (especially George who ended up filthy!!). I offended our guide by guessing his age correctly (he did look young but I wanted to guess right, whoops!)

At the top of the volcano we had a few biscuits and watched the kids down at the bottom who had camped there that night. I don't know how they did it as the sulphur smell was gut wrenching! We had a little climb up onto the rocks to peer down in the vats which, when they were blowing our way, were extremely hot! After a slippery descent we waited for our lift home in the back on a scruffy minivan, eating our staple dish of Indonesian pot noodle and watching the rain pelt down, which we'd luckily missed!
