Purple Toadflax
As mentioned in a previous blip (12th June) the diggings from the newt pond have thrown up a wide variety of relic seeds. This toadflax is another; we did not buy or plant it it just appeared.
Purple Toadflax (Linaria purpurea) is a native of Italy and is an introduced plant in England. It has 'escaped' from its garden prisons and naturalised itself in various places, in paticular railway cuttings and embankments.
I keep most of the wild flowers that spring up in the garden because they are so pretty and this one is no exception.
No insects today, it has rained here, maybe more luck tomorrow and more blips from the wild side and not my garden.
