Gruesome Link
This inn is next to the bridge that links our village to our neighbouring village, but it is also alongside a beck which effectively divides the two.
In summer, as you can see, it is bedecked with flowers and whilst there are beer gardens the presence of the beck and midges can be a deterrent to using them. In winter there are glowing fires and it is a good stopping point for lunch on a winter walk.
The history is not of an inn but a prison during the civil war (we are told). The 'hanging judge ' held trials here and those found guilty were taken to Harden Moor to be hanged.
