Dredging on 4th of July

We all wondered why they had the dredge working on the 4th of July. Every time the barge got full, traffic was stopped coming into town so that the drawbridge could be raised and the barge could go out to sea. Then, when it came back the drawbridge would be raised and traffic would be stopped again. And....This was a day when everybody and their brother was trying to get into town to see the fireworks!

However, it was all very interesting to watch if you were already where you wanted to be, which we were! And, the people on the dredger and barge had a very good view of the fireworks display on the river so all is well that ends well and there is no sense dredging up the past!
