Portland Bill

Back at Portland for some more diving! Happy Days!!

Travelled down this morning with my dive buddy RD, RD had been due to be working late yesterday so we had to plan to travel down today.

The day started with me oversleeping D'oh! But fate intervened as me being late meant I met the postman who had my new tax disc for Henry and if I am honest I hadn't been looking forward to driving down without displaying a currently valid tax disc although I was officially taxed and up to date.

Picked RD up from a town a short drive away and headed down the M40, A34 etc... and arrived at Fathom and Blues at Portland at about 2.30. We got all our paper work sorted, dives confirmed, bits and pieces ordered and picked up the keys for the bunk house. We then had a bit of a meander around O'Three and salivated at all the lovely dive kit which with a trip to South Africa looming is currently out of price frame! Did pick up a torch for £10 though neat little thing it is.

We then went off to find the bunk house which neither of us had realised was in sight and walking distance of Portland Bill light house about 5 minutes walk. The bunk house is great, its a bit like an old air raid shelter but brilliant and the views from it are outstanding! We got settled into our rooms it, quite strange having a 4 bed room all to myself but its cool!

Then we went for a walk down to the Bill as we are supposed to be doing a drift dive at Pulpit Rock tomorrow afternoon which is right near to where we are! A little apprehension setting in as well as excitement!

Went into Easton to get some supplies at Co-op and then across to the chinese for a lovely meal. Back to the bunk house drop the car off and a trip down to the pub 2 minutes away for a quick drink. Made some chatter and light banter with the friendly locals and I made friends with a little dog! (no surprise there then!!).

Another walk to the light house and it was still light although now it was late around 10.30. It was soo warm with a little wind in there too! Sooo pleasant and felt a million miles away! Awesome... tomorrow is going to be a fantastic day!!
