Moonclouds.

When I saw the full moon in the window I thought I'd take a go at blipping it, especially as it was scarfed in clouds, mitigating the brightness.

I stepped onto the road and set up the tripod. This was probably the best shot, though I could have taken much longer on it, and chosen some different locations. Our boy has a bad cough though, so I didn't want to stray too far.

Some people prefer to shoot the moon at the correct exposure then transfer it (in the darkroom or photoshop) to the background which has been photographed seperately. Sometimes they blow up the size, as in those postcards with impossibly large moons looming over cityscapes etc. I prefer to take it as I find it. I went to check Fay Godwin's B&W shot of a full moon over a field of sleeping sheep to see if she had meddled with the negative. She hadn't; the moon was appropriately small, and featureless. But the light is pristine and intense, a beautiful scene, eeriely perfect.

To quote Jane Bown, about whom I just read an article by Germaine Greer: "Some people take pictures. I find them."
