Traditional??
David Dacey, our resident "tour guide," took us to a couple of traditional pubs after class today. We first had a few pints at The Cambridge then proceeded down the street to the Philharmonic Dining Rooms. We ordered the sharing nachos and the bread sharer off the menu. The sweet salsa and fresh guacamole on the nachos were divine.
This photo was taken in the large dining room of the pub. While this may be a traditional Liverpool pub, it is far from typical of what is found in Beaumont, Texas; my home. Apparently, this was one of John Lennon's favorite places to go and, "When Liverpool born former Beatle John Lennon was asked what the negative aspects of fame were he allegedly replied 'Not being able to have a drink at the Phil.'"
In another, smaller room, there is a gorgeous stained glass window with the quote, "Music is the universal language of mankind," from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Again, not traditionally found in the bars back home.
Tomorrow morning, we're off to London for two days!!!
