Rosa Rugosa
Along the track which leads out and up from the village the lovely Rosa Rugoasa shrubs are now in bloom. Pinks, yellows and whites abound. The petals are delicate and soft, almost paper like and they give off a sweet perfume. I think that they can be used as pot pourri, though I have never tried.
As the sky was dull and threatening rain (that is despite news reports of a potential drought in SCOTLAND - ha ha ha) so the flowers won out as their colour shone through the gloom :-)
