Arm in arm with a statlier past...
It wasn't a very productive day for blips, and driving back from the Royal Infirmary I was headed for Braid Farm Road - knowing that if the worst came to the worst there was the old standard panorama across the city, Arthur's Seat, and the shores of Fife in the distance.
And then, parked beside the road, for some unclear purpose was this wonderful omnibus. Liveried up in the old Edinburgh Buses colours, and proclaiming that it was a No 23 on the way to Goldenacre. The 23 runs to Goldenacre still.
A quick piece of research revealed that this was a Guy Arab III / MCW, new in 1948! That may mean something to those who know their buses! I don't! But it appears that after being restored in 1974 it was located in the Scottish Vintage Bus Museum at Lathalmond in Fife.
So how it came to be sitting by the roadside in the city in 2010 is a mystery. Anyone seen "One of our dinosaurs is missing"?
