An orangerie
An orangerie was a common ornament to fashionable country houses in the 17-19 century. This one was built in 1832 on the Dalkeith Estate - which has been in the ownership of the same family for 600 years. As you can see, it is under repair (and has been for a long time)
Went there today with a group of friends for a day out at the park. Beautiful sun, and food - and for me 90 minutes sleep on the ground!
We lost two children for about five minutes - which seemed like hours. Being directed by a helpful family towards the nearby river and saying they had seen them going in that direction - rather added to the panic. Eventually they turned up in a sand pit, behind a gate that had been locked by park staff, because it was the end of the afternoon.
In spite of those bad moments - it was a very pleasant day!
