Virgin ride

As "luck" would have it, the weather was pretty much too hot and humid to make mountain bike riding pleasant this weekend. Alas!

I spent most of the day Saturday (after being rained out of a rafting trip) ogling my new bicycle, thinking I would never EVER want to ride it for fear of getting it dirty. 'tis the problem with something so new and fancy.

Sunday I finally bit the bullet and took it out for its virgin ride. I went to the Greenbrier State Forest at about 7:30 pm when the temps had "cooled" down to 75 degrees (still too humid for comfort though). The ground was very wet due to the rain earlier in the afternoon, but my new bike ROCKED. Wow - I love it so! By the time I got back to my car, having crossed a couple of streams and too many mud puddles to count, my bike was a virgin no more. It was even MORE beautiful all covered in mud. However, I decided to blip a photo of the trail instead of the bike.

I took this photo on a trail called Black Bear Trail. One of the reasons I love mountain biking is for the beautiful scenery. Although this part of the trail is deep within the forest, the view through the trees is always lovely.

I can't wait for ride #2!
