Day In Day Out

Hardest Heart

I happened to be near Cley today (North Norfolk coast). I took the time to stop by and catch some air. Could only find cliche shots of the windmill and boats beached on the marshes. Lovely and all that, but been done a million times before. It must bore the locals half to death to see yet another person staring peacefully at the windmill and then raising their cameras slowly to get a shot that just might be different from all the others on the postcards.
But as I headed back to the car, I spotted this colourful canvas with poem hung in a dark old porch just off the road. I like the words and I like the contrast between them/it and the dark woody damp doorway.
I looked up the author of the words and found her singing/saying/warbling them here

(anyone know why my links don't work, even though I click 'add a link' and fill in the the box? grr)

(I confess I prefer reading them on the canvas. Probably not worth troubling yourself to copy and paste)

Let the morning sun proclaim
the light of the world
let the golden day unfurl
on every way - on every hill

Each angered fist uncurl
Caress the hardest heart
stir the sleeping earth
each stone - each blade of grass

The soul of the world
ignite a brand new day
let the morning sun proclaim
a brand new start
a brand new way
