Day 10 - California - Memorial Day

Today was Memorial Day in the US. A day of reflection for most Americans. We found it to be a bit more of a day of commercialisation.
We headed out for the day with a drive down the coast to Monterey and Carmel.

Carmel was a gorgeous town that was heaving with people and cars. We were however lucky enough to get a parking space twice in town (one at the beach, one in town) that allowed us to see this town and marvel at how nice it was. Although the weather was a wee bit grey it stayed dry.
We also headed to Monterey to check out this town and although we got a wee bit lost we found our way and enjoyed out visit. The Bubba Gump Shrimp company had a restaurant in town along with a park bench for you to pose as Forest Gump, but S was not for posing for me ;-(
As we headed home we dropped into the Gilroy mall again for me to pick up a pair of trainers. This mall was absolutely heaving with hardly a parking space to be had. I did however get a nice pair of New Balance shoes for a paltry $41.
