Helping Joe!
Today is the first day of Winter. We haven't been in our house for a winter yet and it is going to be COLD!! We are an hour away from Mt Baw Baw, one of the ski mountains in Victoria. Kaz and I are hoping to go up there for a snow board at some stage this snow season.
This morning Spence and I were about to go and do the shopping, we went outside and were nearly to the car when Joe (our lovely neighbour) met us in our shared driveway. We haven't seen him for nearly a week and he got down and gave Spence a big hug and said' how is my mate?'! Spence returned his hug with a big smile on his face!!
Joe had raked up the fallen leaves on his front lawn yesterday, so today was putting them into garbage bags to clean them up. Spence went over to 'help'!! I stood back with the camera and just watched them and clicked away! Spence was helping Joe put the leaves into the bags and then wanted to help rake! So Joe gave him the rake and Spence had a little go.
It was really lovely to see them together. I know Joe just loves having Spence around and Spence loves it too! Joe is 77 and has some heart troubles so can't do as much as he used to. He potters around his yard doing things at his own pace which is good. He puts out and brings in our bins and waters our vegie garden if we are away. He also came over and set the fire for Kaz's mum, Cheryl, when she was here looking after Spence for the week we were in Thailand. They are little jobs that aren't too taxing for Joe but it makes him feel needed and wanted, which is fantastic.
We are so lucky to have Joe and Bev as our neighbours.
