Chillli Tartare
We finally made it to Chez Pierre/Pierre Victoire on Eyre place this evening to sample the delights of his chilli tartare we saw on Iron Chef UK. The tartare was absolutely fantastic, a good kick of chilli and about the best use of caviar I've seen (I don't like caviar on toast) and a lovely rich duck egg to mix it up in.We sat outside whilst Jen had her obligatory half time smoke and returned for main course. I had the days special Veal Chop with incredible mushrooms and Jen had the Seafood Platter.
My veal and mushrooms were truly amazing, good quality rose veal on the bone and a variety of wild mushrooms in gravy on a bed of beautifully mashed potatoes but Jen had some surprises in her dish, the crab, lobster and prawns were all raw. This led to some rather unsavoury arguing met with the statement that in France crab, lobster and prawns are always served raw in a seafood platter and it is was Jen's fault for not knowing this when she ordered the dish and he didn't see any reason for mentioning this either on the menu or when the dish is ordered. Crying shame as it put and end to a rather lovely evening, I would definitely return but not for a while and only if the chilli tartare is still on the menu.
Work was better today, though the Internet Explorer 6 issues keep raising their ugly head and it turns out he client hasn't got their merchant account sorted out yet so the press launch on Tuesday could be a bit embarrasing for them but at least it all works now.
