Caught in a shaft of light

The light in 'my wood' can produce very strong contrasting light and shade. This blip illustrates this quite well (I think). I have not deliberately altered the background ..the sunlight filtering through the canopy of the tall trees catches various flowers etc in a narrow shaft of light, hence the effect of isolation from the background. I use spot metering for this because you need to get the exposure right otherwise the flower is burnt out altogether. However, the great beauty of digital is that you can experiment with various settings and see the results instantly (almost). The flower (if you haven't already identified it, is a bluebell)
