High water
In yesterday's entry I mentioned we had some pretty torrential downpours yesterday late afternoon/evening, on top of quite a bit of rain earlier in the week. That was reflected in the river level as we rode along the Little Miami bike trail this afternoon. The weather still looked unsettled as we set out, though the TV weather channel had told us the rain had moved out, and sure enough, by the time we finished our ride, the skies were clearing. I was quite proud of myself today, as we did 20 miles! The day had started with church choir rehearsal for our special Spring music presentation tomorrow with orchestra. I think our music director has gone a bit over the top this time - we have a 25-piece orchestra - strings, 2 flutes, 2 clarinets, bassoon, trumpets, horns, percussion, even a harp! The orchestral arrangements are indeed beautiful, but the choir's concern is that we're not going to be heard above them! This evening we had our final "dinner for 6.7 or 8" with some fellow church members - only in our case, it turned out to be only 5, as one couple had cancelled at the last minute. The home we were at is in a community centered around a lake, and this particular home was right on the lake, and we spent the evening outside on their lovely deck overlooking the water, serenaded by the music of ducks, geese and other birds, as well as the calling of bull frogs. It must be like being on vacation year round living there!
