Chook

Giving the Neanderthals a break.

So, apparently there was a Japanese scientist who died last year age 99 who, at 97, was still publishing papers. Amazing. Anyway, back during WWII, the US medical journals would no longer accept his handwritten manuscripts, so he had to send them to Germany instead for publication. Initially, they got there via the Siberian Railway. When that was closed down, his papers were taken by U-boat to Germany via South America. He didn't find out until after the war that all his articles had been published. How the world has changed.

Conference this morning and early afternoon.

Wander in the Gardens mid-afternoon.
Thought all the dragonflies had gone until I saw a bird catch one and whack it repeatedly on a rock to kill it.
Almost got a very cool photo of that.
Almost.
Bit blurry though, so sticking with the butterfly.
Have a look LARGE.

Into work for a couple of hours this evening.
Home now.
J is at a cooking class for a work team-building exercise. Home-made lasagne, something else, something else and a flourless chocolate cake. Yum.
For me, the evening holds preparation for the poster session tomorrow, and a run.

Oh, and Stevie Babes is back from Singers. Welcome home!
