Surgeons' Hall

Surgeons's Hall, Edinburgh.

William Henry Playfair, 1790-1857, the foremost Scottish architect of that era, was commissioned to design a building containing a meeting hall, Museum, Lecture Room and Library as its principal apartments.

The Royal College, having celebrated its 500 birthday recently, has expanded beyond these original buildings.

Today, as I have done for many years, I was examining in Communication Skills for the Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons. What a pleasure to work in such hidden architectural glory. But then, Edinburgh is full of these gems.
