HEDGE ROSE

This was the first bloom on the hedge of a place that houses a group of people with different facets...don't know the correct terminology, but some people call them 'challenged', which sounds wrong somehow. Many of them are real gems - the friendliest people I encounter in the post office. One in particular, James, unencumbered by self-consciousness, greets everyone with a huge, lopsided smile as if you were the one person in the world he hoped to meet. And then he limps back home, chatting happily to whomever he sees along the way.
They are beautiful people, like this rose.
