Light and Shadow

What is the real colour? Is it the light or the shadow?

Back to work after a wonderful four days of birding. So hard to get back to the city and routine.

We had a wonderful time! Spend time catching up with friends that we see only once a year, saw many amazing sights, froze in the cold and gale force winds, ate lots of old style Chinese food and made our reservation for next year!

A few highlights:
- 2 male wild turkeys in a tree gobbling to each other and fanning their tails
- a female turkey sitting quietly on its nest while hundreds of people walked by only 10 feet away - she was so still and blended so well you could hardly see her
- seeing a Ruby-throated Hummingbird do its territory dance - flying back and forth like a yoyo
- hundreds of gulls and cormorants streaming across the lake to descend on schools of fish in the blowing waves
- red sunrise at the lake, the sound of the waves, the wind, the excitement and anticipation of the discoveries of the day

Luckily we will go away for another birding trip this weekend, but it's another year till we immerse ourselves in Point Pelee.
