Looking in. Looking out.
We are going on a four day birding trip tomorrow to Point Pelee. I look forward to this for the whole year. We will get up at 5:00 and walk till dusk with breaks for food and naps of course. What wonders will we find this year?
Probably no blipping for four days although I might get time for one more tomorrow...can I survive?
And now it's late and I have to sleep...commenting tomorrow...
Nature Notes
- The stupid pigeons trying to nest on the ledge at work are proving themselves even stupider than I thought. They managed to lay an egg after three months sitting on the nest. But the egg rolled slightly out of the nest and they didn't figure it out. They are incubating on the wrong spot. Sigh.
- I saw another Red Admiral Butterfly resting on some ivy today! I began to wonder if they were migrating back like the birds. I looked them up and they are! I find that amazing that so many insects migrate too.
- This year we have downy woodpeckers nesting somewhere in the area. I love hearing the drumming from the distance and following the sound as the male makes his rounds.
- The flowers are totally off their schedule. Bearded Iris are beginning to bloom a month early. Scary.
