Trillium and Turkey Tail
The weather has been very unstable the last few days. Brilliant sunshine alternating with dark clouds, heavy rain, large temperature fluctuations, hail -- it caused a string of accidents which shut down the freeway for a few hours yesterday. I took the dogs to Padden Woods today and shot this during one of the bright periods, with a narrow shaft of sunlight shining through the trees and casting dark shadows.
Turkey Tail is a common bracket fungus (a fungus which grows on the sides of logs or trees).
The trillium flower is white when it opens, and gradually turns to a lovely shade of purple. I saw a few white flowers today, but most had already changed color.
