Detail of a Soviet mosaic in Baku.
This is my favourite of the many Soviet era mosaics scattered about Baku. It's up near BP's Villa Petrolea II (Bayil?) and you pass it heading south out of town towards Gobustan and the mud volcanoes. The mosaic covers the whole wall of a building, the 'cosmonaut' as the Soviets would have said is just one part. On this particular day we were heading out of town with Mum. Sadly the weather wasn't great and we didn't make it to the mud volcanoes - the road was too... well muddy.
