"It's a Party!"
This was the title of our last Coffee and Conversation meeting of the season at church this morning, which had a wedding theme. They had asked ladies in the church to turn in pictures of themselves in their wedding dress, and/or to loan their wedding dresses for the occasion. Some were put on mannequins in Fellowship Hall, but quite a number were modeled in the chapel, either by the owners themselves, or, as in the case of this one, by a daughter or grand-daughter. I was particularly impressed by one lady, who was able to model her own dress, who was married back in the sixties! Along with the modeling there was a commentry, with anecdotes remembered from the wedding day. There was also music provided by the mens choral group, Sons of Sycamore, and a talk about wedding traditions. We then moved from the chapel to Fellowship Hall, where there was a "reception", complete with wedding cake! It was such a fun event, and so fascinating seeing the different styles of wedding dresses from over the last fifty years!
