Snail Acrobatics

Rushed out the door this morning, and then did a double take - surrounded by dozens of acrobatic snails...

Have been a very neglectful gardener - or, if you'd rather, have opted to see how my garden would grow without too much interference from me ;-) - and so the dead flower stalks of the the lavender hedge are still in place from last year. But, they seem to serve a purpose when it rains - all the snails who spend most of their time hiding in the undergrowth slide their way up to the tallest reaches. It was amazing.

Wondering why they do it, then thought maybe they just wanted a wee swing and a shower!
