Big Ol' Artichoke!
I LOVES me some artichokes, and these suckers were HUGE. I felt it
necessary to juxtapose these veggies with an American football to show
their extremely ginormous size.
Some people don't seem to know what to do with artichokes, so here's
what I do: cut off the top third, and then cut off the stem. Place
in a microwave-safe bowl topside down in a bit of water, cover with
plastic wrap, and then steam in the microwave on high for 5 minutes
(depending on size). You use your teeth to scrape off the fleshy part
of the involucral bracts (leaves), and then finally eat the base or
"heart." Just be sure to avoid the hairy "choke" and the thorny tips.
