Jurassic Reflection
While we have been away the Gunnera (Manicata) has done it's exploding. These huge plants totally die back as the temperature drops in November, they leave behind a rather hideous rotting mass of tough leaves. You get used to looking a the dead heap and then suddenly they spring to life, almost overnight they push up and explode.
At the moment the biggest leaves are ONLY 70cm across, bright bright green and growing, by mid summer they will stretch to a mighty 2 metres.
