Islandlwana, Natal, 1879..

.....this is a loverly camp-site; did I mention that already? Despite requests for military uniformity, the Scouts pitched their tents any old way and thus were docked points at tent inspection this morning. They did however remember to point their tent entrance openings down the hill, avoiding any squashing of the person at the bottom of the hill-end of the tent by others up-hill in the tent.

After the unusual warm mizzle last night, we were treated to a cracking warm day today. The tents were dry by breakfast and I was able to gather heaps of dry firewood for campfire tonight....I do like a bit of officially sanctioned fire raising.

Lots of interesting activities were sampled by the Cubs and Scouts and the day ended with camp-fire songs, jokes, recitals and a some reasonably non-PC stuff from the older Scouts.

Cracking day.
