Correct magazines for ladies will tell you to take care of your hands. Moisturise daily, trim and file neat nails etc.

They certainly don't suggest slapping on oven cleaner without gloves, planting seedlings without a trowel, moving rough sawn timber bare handed and generally rootling around in muck and mayhem.

As a consequence I wear nail varnish as an additional layer of protection (I cannot wear gloves - I never remember until it's too late).
