Strip the Willow

Steve married his lovely Julita yesterday in the old Canongate Kirk. Afterwards they led us, preceded by a bagpiper, in a sort of motley procession up the Royal Mile to the City Chambers where we met up with lots of old friends, had lots to eat and drink and then tried to dance some of it off in a ceilidh. The only sadness was that J's parents were stranded in Poland due to the closure of airspace. But Robin Harper gallantly stood in for J's dad at short notice and escorted her up the aisle.

This shot, taken fairly late in the proceedings, was not without risk to the photographer; couples hoofing it up and down a long set like this carry considerable momentum.
