Face in the maple

The last trunk of the Manitoba maple came down today. We'll miss her shade but not the millions of seeds, or seedlings, or the aphids or the sap that molds on the deck and furniture. I hope the willow planted to replace her grows even faster now that it doesn't have to compete for light and space.
