Magnolia denudata

The weather has been kind this week and the magnolias are beautiful. This is Magnolia denudata, the flower of Shanghai, China. It was a pleasure to see them in their native China two springs ago. This specimen at DBG is only 20 feet tall, while those in China were 50 feet plus. The weather may be kind for a few more days.
