Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

Dinner with Friends

Friday evening is just about over. The memories of this evening will linger, though, for a long, long time. Dining with friends at the lovely home of a friend is certainly one of life's luxuries.

We were invited to an evening of dining at Cyndi's home. She loves to cook. The delicious food she prepares is proof. She loves to entertain. The elegance of her dining room table is proof.

Gathered this evening were George, Mr. Fun & Rosie, Lynda & Bob, Ryan, Rebecca, Karen & Donny, and Cyndi.

The menu was roasted organic turkey with cornbread dressing, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans, asparagus, and strawberry shortcake for dessert. We ate till we were over-full and oinking like piggies. Not a complaint was heard.

After dinner mini-conversations developed all around the table with friends jumping in and out of the ones on each end of the table. Everyone sat at the table talking, laughing, sharing cell phone photos and ring tones, while Lynda continued knitting a baby blanket for a grandson that will be born this November. We swapped stories, reminisced, and listened to Cyndi's plans to move to a new residence next month.

A few excused themselves early to get on home, while the rest of us lingered.

Around this lovely table tonight we experience great generosity and warm humility. We each have optimism and hope in spite of a world filled with overwhelming troubles and terrifying atrocities.

It had been a while since we'd all been together. We enjoyed ourselves immensely. It was well after 10:00 p.m. when we excused ourselves to get back home. So I'm blipping late, way too late. And I won't be commenting nearly enough.

Good night from Southern California.
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol

P.S. I'm excited -- I learned today that I will get to attend the all day workshop this Sunday at the TechEd Conference in Pasadena. More about that later.

P.P.S. Thank you to everyone who commented on yesterday's "Fuzzy Buds." I'm in such a blip slump--every edge feels dulled. I'll find "normal" again soon.
