As far as the eye can see.....

We left Breckenridge driving through snow flurries, headed down to Colorado Springs and then along the edge of the Rockies. The mountains to west and the vast plains to the east. The sheer emptiness of the landscape is almost overwhelming. The clouds got scarcer and eventually disappeared as we crossed the state line into New Mexico.

This train was so long that I was able to stop the car, hop out and take this photo, you still cannot see the end of it!

Across another state line into Oklahoma as darkness fell. It was a beautifully dramatic 5 hour journey.
