family tradition
Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas - always need to decide - are we making the green Jello this time? tonight one daughter is in Thousand Oaks preparing for family dinner tomorrow with closer Grandma & Grandpa. The other will be celebrating Easter tomorrow in San Diego with my youngest sister's family. Both are making that important decision - Lime Jello with pineapple & cream cheese or not?
The first time I made it was Thanksgiving 1969, I think. I was the new daughter-in-law trusted to bring the molded Jello. All went well - until I unmolded the Jello and it collapsed onto the plate & all over the counter! I was 20 years young & mother of two already, first time living 2000 miles from "home". I failed the test. We all had a good laugh & I think I was forgiven. He gets his traditional Jello every year - but I always serve it in a bowl.
Happy Easter!
