Big girl awakes
Not much opportunity for blipping today as we spent 6 hours on the coach travelling from Phnom Penh up to Siam Reap in the North. The tropical rain storm that had begun in the night persisted and by the time we were heading out of the city the roads were well flooded and water was pouring in through the sun roof - no one seemed bothered so you just have to go with the flow.
I'm not sure if it's good or bad suspension when you feel like you're driving over a humped back bridge at 60 mph in the way my Dad always did when we were children to entertain us but that was what it felt like!
On the positive side we were sat right by the door, so when the air con. broke down and they left the door open we were in prime position for a bit of ventilation - and would of course be the first to be thrown clear in case of an accident. I'm amazed they don't have more of these as the cattle are all free range and have yet to develope any road sense. The Khmer drivers are very good at dodging things.
We arrived at our rather smart hotel looking rather bedraggled and smelling slightly of wee, a small toddler had been sleeping on my bag and I noticed when he awoke that there was a great wet patch on his trousers. The staff were far too polite to comment and a cocktail in happy hour sorted us out for the night - travelling is never dull!
