Brown Thrasher
The Brown Thrasher has one of the largest song repertoires of any North American bird; 110 different song patterns have been recorded. A relative of the Northern Mockingbird, and the Gray Catbird, he is boldly patterned, is conspicuous when singing on his territory, but is hardly discernable during the rest of year. An aggressive defender of its nest, the Brown Thrasher is known to strike people and dogs hard enough to draw blood. Hence, no doubt, his name!
