Out go the lights
For a moment, the moon comes out from behind a cloud, and you glance up. When you look back, the building is in complete darkness.
You do not find this reassuring. Not at all.
It feels like the moment you realise you can't see the big black spider in the corner, the one you've been keeping an eye on. This is no longer just some dark, empty building you pass at night; not with the impression of that rapidly-extinguished light still lingering on.
When you stare into the abyss, the abyss stares back into you...
Unbidden, the words come to mind - strange, yet half-remembered from somewhere. You try to push the thought away, feeling yourself shiver slightly ... and hating the feeling.
"Move," you tell yourself. But, it seems, you're no longer listening to yourself.
Story starts here.
