If at first you don't succeed ... *

It's a shame this blog has neither a video or the Mission Impossible theme tune. I watched in fascination as a mouse scuttled across the patio, scaled the trellis, made a gravity-defying crab walk across the garage wall (he was five feet off the ground at this point) and perched atop the bracket just to investigate the bird food. Though straining to see his options, eventually he gave up and retraced his steps and manoeuvres until he was back underground via a crack in the paving stones.

But on the subject of succeeding through perseverance, today's early start, alluded to yesterday, was to attempt a re-run of the 12 mile run at pace that failed so badly on Sunday. And I was delighted to run it at 7am before work, finish it in under two hours, and set all sorts of personal bests on the way. There may not be Kenyans quaking at the news, but I'm delighted that my second chance was so much better than the first.

*judging from the mouse's eventual target, perhaps that should be "if at first you don't suck seed ..."?
