Ploughing my own furrow!

What a day! Drove to Connel just outsied Oban to a vintage ploughing competition and had a brilliant time! I was on my element among all those old Fergie tractors, David Browns and Clydesdale horses. I used an entire 4 gb card taking pictures. I don't normally take people pictures but the guys there today were real farming types. I had so many pictures to chose from but I ended up putting two of the heavy horses up.

Drove back home as I had to pick youngest up from work, was going to go to Oban again tomorrow to meet someone but daughter got her shift sheet for the week and is working 2 - 6 so I can't stray far from home, bah! means I will have to do the weekly washing now.

Will prob take dogs out for a walk. My Billy goats Gruff picture made it onto the front page of the local paper , wow how cool is that?

When I was photographing at the event today, I took a heap of photos of an old guy using heavy horses, he was fine , till he noticed me and stared right into my lens, when I came home and started going through them, the one with the old guy staring at me was realy weird, no matter what I did with it, it still looked very stange and unsettling. Someone once wouldn't let me take his photo because he said the eyes were the window to the soul and taking his picture meant stealing his soul! very odd indeed.

They take their ploughing seriously, the judge measured all the furrows, time was of the essence, and when it came to the prizegiving, there were prizes for the straighest furrow, the narrowest one, the best unbroken one, the oldest tractor man, the youngest, the best femal plougher, the sexiest prougher! (his prize was a very brief pair of briefs!, the tractor with the most leaks (winners of this category were given Tena pads!) and of course about 100 bottles of whisky (rmembered no e this time) . Yes today I was as happy as a pig in the proverbial mud. If you would like to see my ploughing pics, look in my flickr site sometime next week www.flickr.com/photos/howbeg
