Lost dog

What a blipping evening. I was just getting ready for my evening walk with the bog (our flatcoated retriever called Luca) when I discovered he'd gotten tired of waiting and decided to take himself for a walk by hopping through an undetected hole in the garden fence! Stray dogs are not a common sight here, and a large stray (over friendly) flatcoat is a bit of a scary sight.

Anyway, two and a half hours of touring the neighbourhood later we dutifully called the SPCA and the dog pound, and - to placate the increasingly distraught Morven - started to create Lost Dog posters from a template provided by the NZ Companion Animal Register (jolly helpful!).

Soon afterwards the dog pound called to give us a stern warning about irresponsible dog owners and then tell us he's being held by neighbours two streets away. The people two streets away thought Luca was lovely, had obviously hung on to him for a bit before calling the pound so they could fuss him, then told us they didn't want the pound to pick him up because they would charge us $300....jeez.

At least he gave me an idea for a blip ;-)
