Coming back to England.....
....from the Kingdom(?) of Cornwall.
Across the Tamar bridge with the famous inscription "I K Brunel Engineer".
From the days when a person was proud to have a trade and only an engineer would refer to himself as an engineer.
Today everyone thinks an engineer services your gas boiler or repairs the washing machine.
Never mind, we had a good few days.
Strangely the train broke down between Newton Abbot and Exeter, coming to a shuddering halt as the brakes went on.
The engine driver ascertained that the problem was a broken air connection, called up Exeter and according to the train manger they sent a fitter who replaced the broken bit and got us moving again. He (maybe a she, we didn't see the person involved) was obviously a good tradesperson, knew what they were doing and got us going in 15 minutes once they arrived.
