In Lincoln's Inn Fields
In residence here for again for a committee meeting in the morning. The RCS moved into Lincoln's Inn Fields - the biggest public square in London - in 1797. It is a truly elegant square - Newcastle House (which I will try to blip in the morning) on the North side of the square is pure Jane Austen aristocratic townhouse.
But whenever I come here the queues for the soup kitchens that are run in the north west corner by churches, mosques and other charities every evening seem busier each time. And in dark corners ill looking men are settling into doorways under as many layers as possible to keep out the night's intense cold.
