Seedheads

This is wild clematis...or traveller's joy...or old man's beard...or around sixteen other common names, depending on where you live. It is a very successful plant, indeed a bit of a bully, clambering over other shrubs and supressing their growth so it can get as much sunlight as possible. At this time of the year the feathery seedheads give many of our hedges a decorative fluffy halo and it is even known as Father Christmas in some parts.
