Early or late?

It's getting to be a bit of a conundrum with the recent unseasonal weather - are some of the plants we are finding in bloom flowering unusually late for 2015 or unusually early for 2016! This Spurge Laurel, Daphne laureola, is often the first woodland plant we find flowering in mid to late January, but around here some plants have been displaying these unassuming green trumpet flowers for a few weeks now. I wish we could have a few weeks of hard frosty weather now to reset nature's calendar.
